The Lightest Two-Person Set — Recap & Update

A friend in Japan swore by the TOAKS POT-550-NH: 62 g, 0.3 mm titanium thickness, and a 110 g canister nested inside—perfect for solo miles with a clip lifter. Then his girlfriend started hiking with him. His ask: a two-person cook set that stays ultralight, packs as one unit, and still nests the 110 g canister.

Why a stacking two-pot design?

  • Two people, one footprint: brew + boil without a second bulky kit.
  • Fuel-first nesting: canister → inner pot → POT-550-L-NH; no dead space.
  • Rattle-free fit: inner pot diameter trimmed by 1 mm for clean stacking.
  • True ultralight: goal <110 g total for both pots.
  • Field-practical: separate pots for drink/meal (or clean/dirty), faster routines.
  • Material ethos: 0.3 mm pure titanium—no taste, no rust, easy rinse.

Original design notes:

I plan to design a titanium pot whose diameter is only 1mm smaller than that of the POT - 550 - L - NH, so that it can be comfortably inserted into the POT - 550 - L - NH. And the 110g gas canister can still be placed in this pot.

A couple of weeks ago, we wrapped the prototype, then built an anodized version for his girlfriend. It turned out so beautiful she’d rather keep it pristine and cook with the inner pot instead. You can check the product story here: The Lightest Two-Person Set – TOAKS Outdoor.

What’s next

The finished product weighs only 102 grams, which can meet the needs of him and his girlfriend for mild backpacking and camping. He is so happy:) Then, he took out his aluminum pot lifter and hoped that I could make a titanium pot lifter for him.
